Hard work pays off for Mark

Nick Polley Shotokan Karate

Congratulations to Mark Pattenden
On April 13th 2025 Mark attended a grading course and successfully passed his 1st Dan black belt. Mark joined us a few years ago as a brown belt 1st Kyu after taking a long break from karate. He trained regularly and got back his skill and fitness level back up to standard and then took the opportunity to grade when he was ready. There are lots of people who used to train and regret stopping. Mark shows that with time and effort it’s still achievable to get back into karate again and achieve your dream of getting your black belt.
.Well done indeed Mark!

Grading success

Nick Stephens Grading success

Congratulations to Nick Stephens
Nick Stephens one of our long standing members was awarded his Nidan (2nd Dan black belt) on a SEKU grading course on November 20th 2022 after a fantastic grading performance. Nick is well deserving of this, as he worked really hard towards it, and put in lots of effort and sweat along the way. Nicks new grade helps him and the Worthing club and ultimately SEKU in promoting quality karate in the area.
